It should be noted that, regardless of the reason that led to the cancellation of a flight, the airline has the responsibility to support and provide solutions to affected passengers.
Depending on the situation, when a flight is canceled, passengers have different rights. For example, it is possible to receive material assistance depending on the waiting time, accommodation on another flight, refund of the ticket price or flight rescheduling.
There are two types of flight cancellations: the first situation is when the trip is initially delayed and then ends up being cancelled. In the second case, the cancellation is informed even before the delay. In any case, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) guarantees the rights of passengers.
When there is a flight delay, the material assistance provided works from 1 hour after the delay. Thus, passengers must receive free means of communication from the airline, which can be calls and internet access.
If the delay period is greater than 2 hours, assistance must include food. In cases where the delay is more than 4 hours, customers must receive accommodation, as well as transportation to and from the location.
In addition, passengers in need of special assistance and their companions will always be able to count on the right to accommodation without depending on the requirement of an overnight stay at the airport.
In this situation, then the passenger must choose between being relocated on another plane or having the ticket refunded. If you choose to receive the money, the customer will not be able to receive material assistance. As for the reversal, it will refer to the value of the ticket and boarding fees.
Another alternative is the option to reschedule the flight. In this situation, the ticket is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Thus, it is possible to change the day and time of the ticket, once the validity period has been respected.
