Coffee

The word "coffee" comes from the Arabic qahhwah and it means “wine”. It was first cultivated by the Muslim people and is therefore also known as Arabian wine. The sensations of vigor and vitality that the fruit provides were discovered by the Ethiopian shepherd Caldi, who, after noticing that his goats were agitated, he saw that they were feeding on leaves and grain from a bush specific.

The monks who lived in the region harvested the fruits and prepared tea. From then on, they began to consume the drink frequently to stay more awake in the nights of vigil and prayer.

Its cultivation became so important to the Arab people that it was strictly forbidden for its grain to leave the region. All traded coffee was pre-boiled so that it could no longer sprout. It was only in the 18th century that the plant gained Europe, being cultivated in Holland.
