Financial projections for 2023

The approved LDO project PLN 5/2022 foresees a deficit of up to BRL 65.9 billion in the public account and a minimum wage of BRL 1,294 next year. This year, Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES) reported the text at CMO.

Thus, for 2023, executives expect growth in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) – which represents the sum of wealth created in the country – of 2.5%, the same percentage expected for 2024 and 2025.

As for inflation, it is believed that next year the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) will be 3.3% and the Selic rate (basic rate set by the Central Bank) will be 10%.

New estimated value of the minimum wage

Next year, the readjustment of the minimum wage, yet to be confirmed by the government, will only compensate for inflation. This means that there is no real gain for workers, only the maintenance of purchasing power.

Currently, the federal government considers data from the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), the Extended Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which measures inflation, and GDP.

However, it is also believed that, in 2022, inflation should reach 8.1%. If this percentage is maintained until the end of the year, the minimum wage in 2023 could be 1,310.17 reais. Thus, the increase will be 98.17 reais, compared to the current value, which is 1,212 reais.
