This Tuesday (18), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed the bill that provides for the allocation of resources for the payment of the national nursing floor.
The document to be submitted to the National Congress authorizes a special credit of R$ 7.3 billion in the Federal Budget, allocating the resources to the Ministry of Health to defray the expenses related to the basic salary of nurses, nursing technicians, nursing assistants and midwives.

According to the Law, the minimum wage for nurses hired by the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) must be R$ 4,750.
Nursing technicians should receive, according to current calculations, BRL 3,325, while nursing assistants and midwives should receive approximately BRL 2,375.
As informed by the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, it is expected that the project will be analyzed by parliamentarians as early as next week.
With regard to midwives, estimates by the Ministry of Health indicate that there are around 60,000 throughout Brazil, assisting approximately 450,000 births a year.
These professionals are responsible for about 20% of births in rural areas, a percentage that doubles -that is, 40%- in the North and Northeast regions.
According to data collected by the Federal Nursing Council, more than 693.4 thousand nurses are currently in exercise throughout the national territory, with 170.7 thousand working in São Paulo, the state with the highest concentration of professionals.
The same survey reveals that the country has 450.9 thousand nursing assistants and more than 1.66 million nursing technicians, totaling around 2.8 million nursing professionals in activity in the country.
