The Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) is an amount deposited monthly by the contractor's company. It has the purpose of refunding a certain portion of profit to the worker, when he leaves the job.
As it is deposited in Caixa Econômica bank accounts, the government has free access to assets for investment in public programs. In this way, as the profit on investments is added, the profitability on them is, therefore, reverted to each worker.
Thus, with the investments made, the worker will receive a larger portion of interest this month. As a result, for every BRL 1,000, an amount of BRL 27.49 will be applied to the balance contained in the account.
To check your balance and find out how much you will earn on the amount you have, just consult the FGTS application, from Caixa Econômica Federal. It shows monthly income.
It can be accessed from Android or iOS phones and tablets. If you have difficulty accessing these digital media, you can also go to an agency and ask for the statement at a service desk.
If it's still complicated, there are other alternatives. The bank can send the statement to the worker, every two months, in the registered e-mail or by mail to the informed address. To do so, just ask at an agency or call the number 0800-726-0101.
