O Ministry of Education disclosed, in the edition of the Official Gazette (DOU) of this Wednesday, 21, the notice with the rules and dates for enrollment in the selection process of the Unified Selection System (Sisu), first edition of 2019. Sisu is the instrument by which public universities offer vacancies to candidates who have taken the National High School Examination (Enem).
Sisu allows the candidate to choose a course in one of the 130 participating public institutions, spread throughout the national territory. “Sisu is one of the most democratic ways to enter public higher education”, observes Vicente de Paula Almeida Junior, director of higher education policies and programs at the Higher Education Secretariat (Sesu) of the MEC. “Access is via a computer or cell phone with internet access, providing the candidate with greater mobility at zero cost.”

According to the norms of the announcement, registrations will be made exclusively on the internet, through the electronic page of the Sisu, in the period from January 22, 2019 until 23:59 on the 25th of the same month, observing the official time of Brasilia. The total number of vacancies offered by universities, as well as the number of institutions and the deadline for launching, will still be announced.
Students who have taken the Enem 2018 and obtained a score above zero in the writing test can apply for Sisu vacancies. In addition, candidates may apply for the selection process in up to two vacancy options, specifying, in order of preference, your options in participating higher education institution, with place of offer, course and shift, and modality of competition.
The first edition of the 2019 selection process will consist of a single regular call and the result will be announced on January 28, 2019. The enrollment or academic records of the selected candidates must be made at the institutions for which they were selected, in the regular call, between January 30th and February 4th, 2019.
