The biggest news is that, with the new identity card, going around with your RG inside your wallet becomes unnecessary. This is because it will be possible to consult a copy authenticated by a QR Code system of your RG. Even the code can be checked even without internet access, just with your cell phone.
In addition, Brazilians will have a single personal registration number, which in this case will be their CPF number. This measure is aimed at reducing the number of frauds and simplifying citizens' lives, so that they do not have to memorize two numbers.
Another aspect that drew a lot of attention in the new identity card is that it will now be possible to include the social name in the document. With this, people can specify how they want to be addressed and named, without having to change the civil registry.
In addition, numbers other than the CPF may be included in the RG, such as the NIS number, the Employment Card, Driver's License and SUS number. That is, with just one document you can have access to several services, and all of this with a validity of more than 10 years.
To change your documentation, you must request the change through the public security departments present in the 26 states and the Federal District. But be careful, because the deadline for updating the document for all Brazilians is March 3, 2023.
