Francisco Falcão, minister of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), ordered the player to surrender his passport to Justice voluntarily.

The minister pointed out that Robinho is strictly prohibited from leaving Brazil and needs to deliver his passport within five days.

The player has the necessary resources to leave the country while the case is being judged, and it was for this reason that the minister decided to seize the document.

Government of Italy forwarded the process to Brazil

Robinho, former player of the Brazilian national team, was denounced in 2013 for the crime of sexual violence. At the time, the player was playing for Milan, Italy, and was at the peak of his professional career.

After 9 years of the case, in January 2022, the Justice of Italy ultimately condemned the player to serve the sentence.

Robinho was charged and sentenced for raping a woman in a Milan nightclub, along with five other men. Participants in the act allege that the woman consented, although she was under heavy drinking.

The Italian government forwarded all the documentation of the process so that the player could be judged by the Brazilian Justice. With that, Robinho could serve a sentence of 9 years in prison in Brazil and the case is still being analyzed by the STJ.

There were attempts by Italy to request the player's extradition, as he was sentenced to prison in the country. However, the Brazilian Constitution does not allow delivering native Brazilians to other countries even in such cases.

The case remains under the responsibility of the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil and this week there was progress in the process, in addition to the seizure of the player's passport.

The minister denied the player's defense request for Italy to provide a translated and complete copy of the process that took place on European soil.
