If you own a vehicle, be aware of the new traffic rules. The measures are included in Law No. 14.229/2021, which provides for changes in the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB). The changes are being implemented gradually and three of them came into effect in the last month. So stay on top of the changes.

Some rules came into effect immediately after the publication of the new law, while others came into force 180 days after the publication of the norm, that is, from the month of April.
The infraction due to excess weight is applied to cargo transportation. What has changed refers to flexibility, due to article 99 of the CTB. In this sense, there will only be a fine for weighing the vehicle when a car or combination of vehicles exceeds the tolerated weight values.
After measuring the weight, if the irregularity is found, the infraction, considered of a medium nature, will generate a fine in the amount of R$ 130.16, plus an amount corresponding to the overweight, and four points will be applied in the portfolio.
As a rule, it is established that the manufacturer must show in a visible place on the vehicle and at Renavam what is the technical weight limit according to the axle, as provided by the National Traffic Council (Contra).
The change refers to fines for companies in case of absence of indication of an offending driver, which is relevant due to the score, which must be applied to the driver's National Driver's License (CNH) indicated.
If there is no indication of the driver, which is a mandatory procedure for situations in which violations are registered in vehicles belonging to legal entities, the company will pay a higher amount. In serious infractions, the fine will be BRL 195.23, and the amount referring to the lack of indication of the driver will be BRL 390.46 for the legal entity.
The suspensive effect already existed, however, it was only valid if the driver requested it. From now on, during the suspension or cancellation processes, the driver cannot have his CNH blocked and will also not be prevented from renewing the document.
Another change refers to the new CNH, with a new design, made mainly in green and yellow. In addition, the document will have a new framework of categories, including classes A and A1, B and B1, among others. The new license will be used as drivers carry out the mandatory renewal.
