The river is responsible for the survival of family farmers and fishermen who live along the entire length of the water. It is also used by big businessmen and producers, mainly for the cultivation of fruits.
But don't think that only the riverside population benefits from the river. The São Francisco waters supply about 13 million people, considering the 168 tributaries and the entire extension of the hydrographic basin.
The river has already served as a navigation route for the flow of many products for centuries of history, ___________ its waters generate energy through hydroelectric plants built on the riverbed.
