There are about 350 species of fish living in streams in the Atlantic Forest alone, more than 50 of them are officially threatened. Forest destruction affects the lives of fish. When we clear the banks of the streams, they are easily excavated by the force of the water, and the edge of the river starts to give way, falling into the water and forming sandbanks. The river, then, becomes more and more shallow, this is what we call siltation. In addition, the water becomes more turbid, and fish find it difficult to find food and breeding partners.
