The government's initial proposal was that the Auxílio Brasil be paid by the month of December of this year, with a supplementary amount. Without this amount, the benefit would be worth only R$224.00. Now, with the enactment of Law No. 14,342, assistance in the amount of R$400.00 is permanently guaranteed for families benefiting from the program. How will the calculation be performed?

According to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, the public coffers annually spent about R$ 47.5 billion on the Brazil Aid. Now, with this maintenance of the value, another R$ 41 billion will be spent to complement the benefit.

The calculation of receipt by each family will depend on their level of poverty, according to data from Agência Senado:

• Early childhood benefit, in the amount of R$ 130, for families with children up to three years old;
• Family composition benefit, in the amount of BRL 65 per month, for families with pregnant women, nursing mothers or people between three and 21 incomplete years (the amount is paid once for each family member who fits these situations);
• Benefit for overcoming extreme poverty, for families whose monthly per capita family income, even when adding previous benefits, is equal to or less than the value of the extreme poverty line;
• Compensatory transition benefit, granted to Bolsa-Família beneficiary families who have a reduction in the total financial value of the aid received as a result of being included in the new structure of benefits.

Changes related to loans and closed insurance

Based on article 2 of the new sanction, the new value of the benefit becomes part of the Auxílio Brasil Program as a whole. This will be important to increase the amount of payroll loans offered to beneficiaries.

In addition, clause 6 also allows public coffers to reimburse undue payments to people who have accumulated two benefits. An example is that of fishermen who in recent months have received Auxílio Brasil and Seguro defeso. Thus, the Ministry of Citizenship can deduct up to 30% of the total amount of the monthly benefit.
