Fires: special attention

The fires that destroy the Amazon Forest are major sources of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. It is very important that Brazil strive to preserve it and avoid burning the rest of it. The existence of the Amazon Forest is fundamental for controlling the rainfall regime in an extensive region of the country. Furthermore, the forest has a very valuable biodiversity – that is, a wide variety of animals and plants. It is an important natural resource for life today and in the future, as well as for scientific studies. The worst use we can give the forest is to burn it, because we will be transforming all this wealth into greenhouse gases that pollute our planet's atmosphere.
