On December 14th, a total solar eclipse will take place at 11:33 am (Eastern Time) ending at 2:53 pm.
According to the Coordinator of the Astronomical Observatory at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Renato Las Casas, although the eclipse is total, here in Brazil we will only see it partially. The further south in the country, the greater the visibility.
Thus, Rio Grande do Sul _________ 60% of the solar disk covered by the Moon; São Paulo just under 50% and Rio de Janeiro around 40%. The North and Northeast regions will not be able to see the eclipse. The total solar eclipse will only occur in a small band that cuts through southern Chile and southern Argentina.
In Belo Horizonte, the phenomenon will cover 31% of the mother star and can be observed for just over two hours, between 13:02 and 15:17. However, the apex of the eclipse will occur at 2:14 pm in Belo Horizonte.
