Since the 29th of July of this year, it has become possible for those insured under the INSS request the benefit of Temporary Disability Assistance, which is also known as Sickness Allowance, only using the medical documentation. Requests can be made both for new cases and for old beneficiaries, who already had their expertise scheduled. In these specific cases, the date on which the certificate or report was issued cannot exceed 30 days from the date chosen for the analysis of the documents.

It is possible to apply for sickness aid through the application and also through the Meu INSS website. The app is available for iOS and Android for free. If you want to use the site, just access the address www.meu.inss.gov.br, click on “Schedule Expertise”, and then on “Initial Expertise”.

If the documentation is in accordance with what was instructed and the insured person is interested in providing remote assistance, just click on “Yes” and then on “Continue”. Once this is done, it is necessary to inform the reason for the request, whether it was because of an accident at work or something else. In the event of an accident, there will be no escape, and the beneficiary will have to appear in person at the scene for expertise.

Another important point is that the benefit will only be allowed through the analysis of the certificates for people who live in places where the scheduling and expertise time exceeds 30 days. The following information must be clearly legible in the submitted document:

• applicant's full name;
• date of issue of the document (it cannot exceed 30 days from the date of submission of the application);
• information about the disease or ICD (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems);
• signature and stamp of the professional with the Class Council registration;
• start date and estimated period of leave.
