Since its launch, WhatsApp has been a rage in Brazil and today it is even required in official and company forms. However, one can no longer speak of hegemony among the messengers, since the Telegram in Brazil has shown absurd growth in recent years. This was what was found by the survey Panorama Mobile Time, by Opinion Box, which found that more than 60% of Brazilian devices have the messenger.

However, it is worth noting that Telegram is far from being able to surpass the admirable brand of the messenger from Mark Zuckerberg's Meta company. After all, WhatsApp dominates the almost absolute majority of smartphones in Brazil.
According to Opinion Box itself, about 99% of cell phones in Brazil have WhatsApp. This indicates that Brazilians still have WhatsApp as their main messenger and also as one of their main forms of communication. Especially because the numbers are close to the use of cell phones in the call format and already surpass landlines.
However, in terms of growth, Telegram is really relentless as the number of users increases every day. Because in January 2021 the app was present on just 45% of smartphones, and achieved an increase of more than 15% in just 12 months.
To arrive at this result, Opinion Box interviewed 2,100 Brazilians over the age of sixteen who have easy access to the internet. Thus, it was possible to verify that 1. 255 used Telegram or at least had the app installed on their cell phones. On the other hand, 2. 081 claimed to own WhatsApp.
In addition, the survey also presented results concerning the other most popular social networks here in Brazil. And so it was possible to see that Facebook Messenger still assumes a very important place in Brazil, despite having declined in terms of active users.
