The Cerrado's relief is almost entirely flat, but it presents some typical formations, the chapadas, which are huge areas, also flat, located at certain altitudes. The average altitude in the region is 500 meters above sea level and this makes the Cerrado an important source of water for the country.
Take a look: as it is located in a higher position, rivers born in the Cerrado flow to different and important Brazilian hydrographic basins, such as the São Francisco, Tocantins, Araguaia and Paraná rivers. Those who travel through the region easily come across beautiful waterfalls and streams.
