Bossa Nova officially started in August 1958, when the album by singer João Gilberto ___________ at Brazilian stores, with the songs Chega de Saudade (by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes) and Bim Bom (by himself singer). It was a surprise! The simple and harmonic sound of João Gilberto, considered the father of this musical genre, was a great novelty.
Despite not having had immediate success, this album can be considered one of the milestones of Bossa Nova. That's because, in addition to having brought some of the most classic compositions of the genre, it also brought the João Gilberto's famous guitar beat, with its classic and jazz-inspired chords North American. Indeed, it was this foreign influence the main weapon critics used to attack bossa nova.
