The pink jequitibá is considered the largest native tree in Brazil. It's hard not to be impressed when you spot a pink jequitibá, whose height can reach 50 meters and the trunk is more than 10 meters in diameter! Even more surprising is knowing that some of these trees are over 1,500 years old and still bear fruit – which, by the way, monkeys love! Because of its noble wood, the pink jequitibá was almost extinct in the wild. But this story can take another turn. After all, this tree adapts well to humid places and is indicated for the restoration of riparian forests or galleries, those that border rivers. The plant “thanks” giving shade and fresh water.
