Balkans

The Balkans refers to southeastern Europe and encompasses Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, the self-proclaimed independent Kosovo, Turkey's portion of the European continent (East Thrace), as well as parts of Croatia, Romania and Slovenia.

Geopolitics of Europe

The division between Eastern Europe and Western Europe became apparent after the division of the continent between the socialist bloc and the capitalist, bounded by Iron Curtain.

Eastern Europe is considered from the German-Polish border (German-Polish), Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia; to the Ural Mountains, the natural divide between Europe and Asia.
