Chocolates are the darlings of those people who cannot live without sugar. But there is a portion of the population that is vegan, and it becomes more difficult to find options for them. With that, the famous chocolate brand KitKat will launch its vegan version to cater to this audience. O Vegan KitKat was already being marketed in the UK and will now be distributed to 15 more countries.

The manufacturer is launching a version, this time non-dairy, of its popular chocolate bar, the delicious KitKat V. The Swiss company is jumping on the trend for plant-based alternatives. Nestlé promises that the new version maintains the perfect balance between crispy wafer and soft chocolate.
In addition to sustainable cocoa, this new chocolate also does not contain the milk normally used in rice substitutes. The new bar is on sale in select countries, with select retailers, and will now be available globally.
The vegan version of the iconic KitKat bar is not an exact copy of its dairy brother. A Daily Mail contributor tried the chocolate and said it is creamier and has a different texture, although it is less sweet. Possibly this is due to Nestlé's decision to reinvent the iconic chocolate bar.
Louise Barrett, head of Nestlé's confectionery technology centre, said in an interview that the company tried different types of milk, such as oat, soy and almond, before deciding to use milk rice. As a result, it took two years for the chocolate bar to go from drawing board to execution.
However, there is a downside: the new vegan bars are expected to be a bit more expensive. This fact is due to the fact that chocolate uses more expensive ingredients and its production lines require more rigorous cleaning procedures.
Still, Nestlé wants vegan consumers to ignore the price difference and give them recognition. The candy will be produced in a factory in Hamburg, Germany, which will produce 300 tons of chocolate and has the capacity to produce even more.
