In our solar system, there are eight planets. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus “travel” in orbits around the Sun. But the Sun is just one of the billions of stars that exist in our galaxy. Around many of these other stars, exoplanets have already been discovered.
Exoplanets are planets that orbit stars that are not our Sun. So they belong to other planetary systems. More than 4,000 exoplanets have been registered to date.
