The deadline for declaring income tax in 2022 continues until May 31. However, those who do not make the declaration within the specified period may face several problems, such as fines and heavier punishments.

Do you know if you need to declare the IR? If you're still not sure, see below who needs to declare this year:

• Who had their income above R$ 28,559.70 in the year 2021;
• Who received exempt income over R$ 40 thousand in the year 2021;
• Who had, in 2021, capital gain on the sale of goods and/or rights, or made investments in stock exchanges, goods and the like;
• Who had, in 2021, income above R$ 142,798.50 in rural activity;

• Who, until December 31, 2021, had possession of goods worth more than R$ 300 thousand;
• Who started residing in Brazil in any month and remained until the last day of 2021;
• Those who had tax exemption on gains on the sale of residential properties, and acquired another residential property within 180 days.

Knowing this, if you are among the people who need to declare the IR, know that the losses for those who do not make the declaration can be very serious, such as:

• Traffic ticket: With a minimum amount of R$ 165.74, the calculation is based on the amount of tax due, at 1% per month.
• CPF blocking: After several messages warning about the debt, the Federal Revenue can block the CPF of those who did not declare.
