Once there was a great war. The king sent all his men and soldiers to fight, but he gave them little money. Then a soldier decided to leave the war and flee. He hid in a cornfield where no one could find him.
He waited until the army left. However, the army did not leave for two days. The soldier couldn't go anywhere. And now he was very hungry!
The poor soldier was sad. That's when a dragon appeared before him.
– I'll help you, soldier! - Said the dragon. - But in exchange, you will have to serve me for three years.
When the three years were up, the soldier decided to go to the dragon to ask his permission to leave. He wanted to return to his family.
So he went to the dragon dungeon, but was surprised to see the beautiful young man sitting there in the dragon's place!
“Don't be afraid,” said the young man. - I am a prince. I was cursed by a witch and turned into a dragon. The spell could only be broken if a good man like you served me for three years.
He continued:
“Many men came to this dungeon, but most of them were greedy and just wanted money. The others were too afraid to serve a dragon and fled after a few days. Only you stayed all these three years. I am very grateful to you, I want to reward you even more, you will come with me to my kingdom and I will make you the commander of my army.
So the prince took the soldier to his kingdom, where he became commander of the army. Soon, he was reunited with his family and they all lived happily in the new kingdom.
