The jaguar had been wanting to catch the fox, but the fox was very smart and always slipped away.
She then had the idea of pretending to be dead and, after having the news spread among the other animals, she stretched out into the grave.
The other animals breathed a sigh of relief when they learned of the death of their most ferocious enemy, but they wanted to make sure with their own eyes that from then on they could live even in peace.
Confident, they were already very close to the jaguar, which was still motionless, stretched out on the ground, when the fox arrived in a hurry and asked them:
– Has she burped?
– No, replied the other animals.
– Well, look, my grandfather burped three times when he died, said the fox.
The jaguar, hearing this, immediately belched three times. The fox laughed and said:
– Who ever saw someone burp after death?
And they all fled in a run.
