These are the impressions animals leave on the forest floor when they move and that can be recognized. Good footprints depend on the type of soil they are printed on. In general, clayey, moist soils are best. To identify the mammal that left a footprint, it is important to be aware of the digits (animal fingers) by observing the shape and whether there are claws, for example. The foot pad or hoof print (that soft part under the feet) is another important feature.
