A delivery person on the iFood platform was filmed being cursed and harassed by a resident who requested delivery. Robson José da Silva, the motoboy who was making the delivery, started filming the moment he was humiliated by the customer.
All this because the user who placed the order expected the delivery to arrive at the door of the apartment. Unfortunately, cases like this have become frequent.
During the video, the customer who was upset when being filmed threatened the delivery man, saying: “Here you only die because of the militia, my partner. If I came down armed, I'd hit you with the butt, you son of a bitch!” The case is being investigated by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro.”
Cases of violence against couriers have arisen due to confusion about delivery. This raises the question: are couriers obliged to take the order to the customer's apartment?
Through a note, the company iFood states that it repudiates any violent act against workers, whether physical or verbal. The customer who harassed the motoboy was also blocked from the platform as a punitive method.
iFood states that couriers should not go up to the client's apartment and made the information explicit in the statement. The recommendation is to speed up the delivery and flow of orders, ensuring that both parties are properly attended to.
“The delivery person's obligation is to deliver to the first point of contact that exists at the person's residence. If it's in the condominium, that point is the concierge. This is the recommendation given to couriers and the communication passed on to consumers”, said Diego Barreto, vice president of strategies and finance at iFood.
