At the end of the year, the number of scam attempts increases, as more people seek to make extra money and are not aware of the dangers. An example is the supposed “Nubank Merry Christmas” campaign, which has been spread mainly across the Whatsapp for anyone who is a customer of the virtual bank.
Nubank is warning its customers about the new scam, asking them to report the fraud and not pass on the message so that other people do not fall for this scam.

The fake campaign is being passed on mainly by messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram. The message comes with a picture of the bank Nubank and asks customers to click on the fake link so they can earn R$ 50 on Pix.
The crooks write the message in such a way that it appears that the ransom has to be done urgently, so that the user can recover the money before the Pix are depleted. This type of coup with a sense of urgency is a practice that is becoming more and more common and is quite effective.
Using social engineering, criminals trick users with promotional campaigns and discounts. This year we've already had other scams offering R$ 50 on Pix, like on Father's Day, for example, when the bandits also impersonated a bank with the promise of redeeming the money.
Concerned, Nubank is warning about the new scam through a statement, clarifying that the campaign is a scam. The bank also advised customers not to fall for false messages.
“Nubank informs that it is not carrying out the Merry Christmas campaign. If you were impacted by this message, do not click, know that it is a scam”.
The aim of criminals with this fraudulent campaign is to steal user data. After clicking on the link in the message, the bandits have access to the victim's cell phone, which will probably be linked to the email and personal passwords.
The bank advises to be very careful when clicking on forwarded links and, if applicable, contacting them through the service channels.
