What is the reason for the arrangement of the letters on the typewriter?

In the first typewriter model developed in 1867, the letters were actually arranged in alphabetical order. However, its creator, the American Christopher Latham Sholes, decided to commission his friend James Densmore to find a way to improve the keyboard layout. He studied the most used letter combinations in the English language and chose to put them apart from each other, in order to prevent nearby rods from rising together and getting tangled together. others. Although several other distribution proposals have been suggested over time, Densmore's keyboard has become a standard model around the world. It's worth mentioning that because of the first six letters in the top row, it's called a QWERTY keyboard.
