Conceived in the 15th century by the Italian Gattinara, the first syringe had to wait almost two hundred years to be actually put into practice. The English C. Wren and R. Boyle made the first demonstrations of the novelty in 1657.
The hypodermic syringe was created in 1853 by the French physician Charles Pravaz (1791-1853). It made it possible to inject drugs directly into the body, previously only ____________ by mouth. The London doctor Fergusson was the first to use the glass, which allows monitoring the exit of the drug from the injection. But it was the Frenchman Luer who, in 1869, manufactured the first all-glass syringe.
