Will FGTS profits be paid to workers? See who gets

The deadline for Caixa Econômica Federal release the profits from FGTS it's August 31, with millions of workers entitled to receive part of the profits made in the year 2021.

Annually, the Board of Trustees of the FGTS determines the percentage of net income that will be distributed among Brazilians. Caixa announced last year that 96% of profits were distributed to 88.6 million workers. Check out more information below!

What is the FGTS profit?

The additional value works as a kind of accounting, since the federal government uses the resources as a way of “loan” to be used in housing and public sector projects, when the worker keeps this money in the fund of guarantee.

In this sense, the FGTS profit is nothing more than the sum of the accruals gathered by the fund, which is multiplied through income and interest. Accumulated funds are distributed among benefited workers. This year, delivery times will be credited to those who have available balance up to the last availability day of 2021 (December 31).

Who can receive FGTS profit?

All workers, whether employed or unemployed, will be able to receive profits obtained by the FGTS. The only requirement to receive it is to have a balance in the accounts on December 31, 2021.

What situations authorize the redemption of this money?

In addition, it is important to highlight that the worker cannot withdraw the amount whenever he wants. For this, there are FGTS rules, which release withdrawals in the following situations:

• Buying your own home;
• Birthday withdrawal;
• Worker with at least 70 years old;
• Being fired without just cause;
• By closure of the company (in cases of partial or total extinction of the establishment);
• Workers who stay at least three consecutive years without a job (signed portfolio);
• Supplement the amount you must pay for a property purchased by a consortium or financed (by SFH - Housing Financial System);
• Termination by agreement between the parties or by termination of the contract within the established period;
• Termination due to the fault of both parties, force majeure or retirement;
• In case of natural disasters;
• If it is the case that a temporary worker is suspended for a minimum period of 90 days;
• Workers or dependents with HIV, diagnosed with cancer or in the terminal stage due to a serious illness;
• In case of death of the worker, the judicially recognized dependents and heirs can carry out the withdrawal.
