NAME:

The police chief and the crook

One night, Kus's chief of police was sitting at home when a visitor came to him with a trunk carried by two men.
– O Emir, I am a traveller. You kept me safe, but tomorrow I'll be in another city, where I fear for my good. I hear you are a good and trustworthy man. I ask you to keep my goods until the time I return. – He opened the chest and showed the chief the gold and pearls it contained. - All this is worth forty thousand dinars. I ask you to give me only a thousand dinars so that I can continue my journey. I will return this money when I return. And in case I don't return, you can keep these goods.

The chief was so happy with the offer that he immediately gave the visitor a thousand dinars and took the chest. The next morning he summoned you to hear and showed him the chest, but he was shocked to learn that all the goods were made of tin, copper and glass, not gold and pearls!
