The nostalgia of generations X and millennial: 15 things that seem outdated today

Ah, the good old days! When I look back and remember the crazy things we Millennials and Gen Xers did growing up, I can't help but laugh. Some of these practices, which were so common at the time, seem absurdly outdated today.

Here are 15 examples of these hilarious practices:

Astrology and genius: THESE are the 4 most brilliant signs of…

iPhones that didn't succeed: 5 launches rejected by the public!

  1. Rewind rented movies or face an extra fee: The VCRs! Who never had to rewind that movie before returning it to the rental store, just to avoid that extra charge without our parents complaining?
  2. Friends or family showing up out of nowhere at home: Without smartphones, surprise visits were commonplace. And believe me, we really enjoyed these unexpected visits!
  3. Scccccrreeeeeeeerrrrrrrreeeee: There's nothing more nostalgic than the sound of your modem trying to connect to the internet.
  4. Buying a phone card to use the pay phone: Yes, we made calls from payphones, and calling cards were our passport to that.
  5. Dreaming of a Motorola flip phone: That sleek cell phone was the height of sophistication at the time, and we all wanted one!
  6. Record songs from the radio onto cassette tapes: We spent hours waiting for that favorite song to record it and create our own analogue “playlists”.
  7. Using floppy disks to store files: Yes, that's how we stored our documents and photos before the invention of USB sticks and external hard drives.
  8. Encyclopedias and paper dictionaries: Those heavy volumes were our Google of the time!
  9. Analog cameras and film development: It was a real box of surprises to see how the photos turned out after being developed.
  10. Writing letters and postcards: Instant messages? No! We exchanged letters and postcards with friends and family.
  11. paper maps: GPS didn't exist, so we resorted to paper maps and asked for directions to get where we wanted to go.
  12. Note phone numbers in notebooks: Without smartphones, we wrote down phone numbers in notebooks and notebooks, like civilized people.
  13. Watch TV at the right time: Without streaming platforms, you had to be available exactly when the show was broadcast.
  14. Burn CDs with music and videos: We burned CDs to listen to music and watch videos anywhere, even without internet access.
  15. Huge stereos: Giant sound systems, with multiple boxes and components, took up our space and required wires everywhere.

It's always fun to remember that time. Nostalgia for the 2000s always brings us good laughs and that good feeling of longing. After all, who doesn't like to remember the times when life seemed a little simpler and less connected?
