As stated in article 16 of the Social Security Plans and Benefits Law (Law 8.213/91), the following groups may be considered dependents of the insured person:
First, dependents of the deceased who was insured must access the website inss.gov.br. After that, log in to the portal, search for “Pensão” in the main menu and then click on “Pensão por Morte Urbana” or “Pensão por Morte Rural”.
Soon after, the page system will ask you to update your registration data. So, perform the action and click “Next”. Now, the system will inform some terms and norms, and after the complete reading, click on Continue.
At the end, the insured person's family member needs to confirm their contact details, fill in all the information and attach the documents requested by the body for assessment of the case.
