NAME:

the man and the snake

There was a farmer who deeply loved his only child. One day, the little boy accidentally stepped on the tail of a snake. The violent-tempered snake bit the boy immediately with its fatal venom.
The farmer, overcome with pain and rage, hunted down the snake that had killed his son and cut off its tail with the axe. In revenge, the snake bit several animals from the farmer's cattle. And so it went on for years. Finally, when he was close to ruin, the farmer decided to make peace with the snake. He took honey to the den and begged:

- Perhaps you are right to get revenge on me, but surely I had the right to try to avenge the death of my beloved son. Let's forgive and forget!
- I'm afraid you will never forget the death of your son, nor I the loss of my tail! But let's give ourselves a chance to live more amicably from now on.
