The Pennsylvania State Police, in the United States, is investigating a curious case that occurred recently. According to authorities, a 23-year-old woman faked her own kidnapping to cover up dropping out of college.
The accused is Chloe Stein, 23 years old, who decided to drop out of school shortly before graduating. To escape the family's judgment, she allegedly faked her own abduction.

Arrested last Tuesday (2), Chloe will answer for the crimes of false alarm to a public safety agency, false report, administrative obstruction and disorderly conduct.
The case began when Chloe's boyfriend contacted the girl's family after not being able to reach her within the last few days. In turn, the former student's family called the police and a huge search was launched.
Shortly after the search began, Chloe Stein's car was found abandoned on Radebaugh Road in the close to North Greengate Road, which left the family and boyfriend desperate and the police on high alert.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police Department, extensive search efforts were undertaken, including the use of helicopters and sniffer dogs around the area where the young woman's car was found.
After much searching, the police arrived at a house located in the city of Jeannette, also in Pennsylvania, where they found Chloe Stein completely safe and serene. After that, the young woman was taken for questioning at the nearest police station.
When questioned by officers, Chloe said that she was taken to the house in Jeannette by a man dressed as a police officer and that he was carrying a firearm. The woman also said that the kidnapper blindfolded her and took her on the way to the property.
However, Chloe's version was questioned by parallel investigations that pointed out that the young woman had abandoned the course she was taking at Penn State University, which raised suspicions.
“We found out that she had not been to college for some time, approximately two years. Her graduation was already close when she dropped out,” police said in a statement sent to local media.
Finally, when confronted with these facts, Chloe admitted that she dropped out of college and therefore faked the situation to escape the judgment of family and friends.
"The fact that she apparently didn't go to school for so long and maybe let people down is what prompted her action," police said.
Investigations by the Pennsylvania police are now returning to unravel whether Chloe Stein had anyone's help in forging the kidnapping, as well as who the house was where she was staying.
The young woman will be subject to a custody hearing on May 25. If she receives a positive opinion from the judge in the case, she will be able to respond to the process in freedom.
