It is common for parents and teachers to call the unusual behaviors of mischievous children hyperactivity. They can't seem to sit still for even a minute and are always keen to exceed the limits imposed within the home. Faced with these typical and curious situations, two important questions arise: What is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder? Do your characteristics have to do with your children's behavior?
As the Brazilian Association of Attention Deficit, better known by the acronym ADHD, explains, this problem is a neurobiological disorder, of genetic causes. It usually appears in childhood and, in most cases, accompanies the individual throughout life. Symptoms are based on distractibility, hyperactivity, restlessness and impulsivity. In his daily life, he cannot focus on any task for a long time, let alone sit still.

What leads children to be considered flighty or lunatic, with the appearance that they are connected to an engine, are the combinations of inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity symptoms, although some have a predominance of one or more from another. Regarding the seriousness of the problem, it is important to emphasize that all people can be subjected to a certain degree of inattention or hyperactivity and are not victims of the disorder.
Those who do struggle with the problem suffer from social interaction, both at home and at work. If it's just one or the other, it may be a sign that the difficulty is related to a particular environment. In adults, in order to have this diagnosis, it is necessary that they undergo an entire investigation process that shows that they already had the symptoms before the age of seven.
To get an idea, about 3 to 6% of children at school age, aged 6 to 12 years, have hyperactivity and/or attention deficit. Before the age of 4 or 5, the diagnosis may be compromised, as children's attitudes are very varied and changeable.
Faced with these behaviors, parents and educators find it difficult to know how to react or deal with the problem. The situations experienced in everyday life can be traumatic for the child, since they cannot control their attitudes. For example, the child who has the disorder does not choose whether to pay attention in class or not, this happens naturally, as it is the result of a pathology.
In order to help you better understand the disorder, the Polytechnic Institute of Distance Learning (IPED) offers a course free online ADHD website. Through it, the participant will learn the concept, similarities between ADHD and Borderline Personality, symptoms, typical behaviors of ADHD, types of ADHD, isolated use of medication, the disorder in children, adolescents and adults, family and domestic conflicts, the role of the school and the educator and tips for dealing with children with ADHD in the classroom of class.
