In recent months, the Federal Government has worked on a series of expansions of benefits social. These happened thanks to the approval of the Electoral PEC that allocated resources to cover such expenses. However, the approval guarantees the extension of the programs only until December 2022, and therefore, there are doubts whether the truck driver assistance will continue into 2023.

With the Electoral PEC, it was possible to increase the value of the Brazil Aid from R$ 400 to R$ 600. In addition, the Federal Government used the same opportunity to release two more benefits, which are Taxi Driver Assistance and Truck Driver Assistance.
In the case of the second, it is a benefit that releases installments of R$ 1,000 for truck drivers. This is a measure that aims to reduce the impacts of the increase in gasoline and diesel oil prices.
However, the Truck Driver Assistance, as well as the other benefits approved by the PEC, are only foreseen until December 2022. Thus, the continuation of all programs and increases in values next year is uncertain at the moment.
One of the reasons for the uncertainty regarding the continuation of the aid is the election factor. After all, President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is running for a new term. In recent interviews, he stated that it is possible to continue the aid programs, if he is re-elected to govern Brazil for the next four years.
Even so, even with his re-election, the continuation of the aid is uncertain. Even economists and scholars are already considering the financial impacts of the elections and fear for a 2023 with little available budget.
On the other hand, there is still the possibility that Jair Bolsonaro will not be re-elected. On the agenda, the also presidential candidate and main opponent of Bolsonaro, Lula (PT) says that he intends not only to maintain the programs, but also to expand them, if he is elected. That way, the only guarantee you have until then is the payment of the aid by December.
It is worth mentioning that the benefit has already started to be paid, and drivers received twice as much, with the value of two installments of the Truck Driver Assistance in August. Likewise, payments must continue until December, when it will need to be renewed.
