The measure is responsible for regulating food aid and home office. Today, the use of food stamps is restricted to just paying for food products at accredited establishments, or to buy meals. In addition, the proposal prohibits the negotiation of benefit amounts.
If the worker uses the benefit in a wrong way, which ends up diverting his original function, he will be subject to a fine of between R$ 5 thousand and R$ 50 thousand. However, the MP's rapporteur wants to change this payment in order to guarantee improvements to its beneficiaries.
The new change in voucher payment should benefit all workers. Paulinho da Força Sindical aims to change the text, and also include an authorization for Brazilians to start receiving the voucher in cash. In this way, the companies offering the voucher would be able to negotiate the best way to pay the aid, together with the unions of the category.
The deputy also highlighted the information that a large part of the employees end up negotiating with a discount the values of the benefit received, so that they can use the value in what really need. In view of this, the deputy justified that the change in payment would end up bringing more benefits to workers. If it is not accepted by the National Congress, the validity of the measure ends on August 8, 2022.
