The BBC series War and Peace is based on the eponymous book by the famous Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, published between 1865 and 1869.
It is a bold, modern production of one of the most famous and epic stories of all time, covering great themes like love and war, life and death. The story takes place in 1805 in Russia and tells the story of three characters (Andrei, Natasha and Pierre) during Napoleon's invasion and the strong changes in Russian society at the time.
