Currently, two bills are being discussed in the National Congress that aim to create the 14th salary, passed on to beneficiaries by the INSS. The first is PL nº 3.657/2020, created by senator Paulo Paim (PT-RS), and the second is PL nº 4.367/20, authored by deputy Pompeo de Mattos (PDT-RS), which was mentioned above. Deputy Pompeo de Mattos justifies that, with the pandemic, medical services such as carrying out exams Laboratory tests and outpatient and routine follow-up were discontinued due to the high transmissibility of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Due to this, countless retirees and pensioners had cases of aggravated chronic diseases – or suffered from the emergence of new opportunistic diseases. For this reason, spending on medication has increased considerably, impacting family income – especially families that depend on the income of retirees.
Consequently, the 14th salary would be a viable alternative to reduce the negative effects that reduction in family income caused in the economy, either in the family or in the macroeconomic structure Brazilian.

However, there is an addendum: citizens who receive the Benefit of Continued Provision (BPC) or other assistance are automatically excluded from the list of recipients.
