In the post, the team said how they made the discovery: “X-ray analysis has allowed archaeologists and museum officials determined that this sword was not an imposter—it was a genuine Early Age object. Bronze".
The sword may have been used for a celebratory ritual on the Danube after winning the battle or to celebrate over family members who might have died in the war. The detector used was a fluorescent x-ray that has a light similar to rays. The object was compared to a replica from the same period.
The comparison was essential for the discovery. When they realized it, they discovered that the composition was the same as the original tweezers from the same time. This is an unusual finding, as Bill Parkinson, the museum's anthropological curator, points out, as they often believe a piece is original and then discover it's a fake.
The motivation for analyzing the sword came while preparing the objects to be exhibited at First Kings of Europe (in free translation, “First Kings of Europe”) for the month of March this year. Upon being recognized as an original, they included the item in the Bronze section to tell the story of southeastern Europe.
