In addition to accident insurance, the PL wants to guarantee notice of termination of at least 3 working days, with a warning and fine for companies that cause non-compliance with the law. This notice would not be valid for cases of suspected criminal offense by the courier.
According to Mecias de Jesus, professionals in this field work in precarious conditions, and he also reinforces that they were essential during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the demand for this type of service increased very. According to the senator, the social value of the work of these professionals and the dignity of human beings must be taken into account.
“It is unreasonable, for example, for the worker to bear the high risk of accidents inherent to the dynamics of deliveries made by motorcycle without being covered by insurance. There has to be a counterpart. It is not fair to carry out a high-risk, lucrative activity without the minimum of security being offered”, said the senator.
Law 14.297/2022 guaranteed better working conditions for these professionals, but was limited only to the critical period of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Senator Paulo Paim was responsible for issuing a report to the Social Affairs Commission, and thus the project could be forwarded to the Economic Affairs Commission. If approved, the text goes on to be analyzed by the Chamber of Deputies.
