A abbreviation lgbt concerns a community currently called a social minority. The definition of a minority does not necessarily come from population numbers, but from rights in society.
Therefore, when we refer to the LGBT population we are talking about the following groups: Lesbians, Gays, Bissexual and Travestis/Transsexuals/Transgenders.

The acronym has undergone several modifications throughout its use. Previously it was just GLS, which meant Gays, Lesbians and Supporters. However, after discussions of representativeness within the cause itself, the acronym was changed to LGBT.
This is because lesbians and bisexuals felt excluded from the struggle, claiming that gays had a unique role within the movement. Thus, the formatting of the acronym as we know it today emerged.
Despite being popularly recognized as “LGBT”, the acronym is undergoing recent changes. One of them is the addition of the group '
Q‘ (queer), thus forming theLGBTQ‘.On the other hand, there is the introduction of the 'I', of intersex people, forming the LGBTI. There are still those who want to join the two groups, forming the LGBTQI+.

However, this goes beyond just sexuality and gender. It also reflects the way of dressing, behaving and thinking within society, thus avoiding imposed models.
The term is relatively new, and suggests beings with sexual variation, whether in chromosomes, gonads or genitals. In this sense, there is a difficulty in defining the sex of the person.
In addition, the variation may include characteristics of sexual dimorphism, such as: aspects of the voice, limbs, face, hair and shape of body parts.
