Bolsa Família, formerly known as Auxílio Brasil, is the largest social program in the country. Aimed at families in poverty or extreme poverty, the social program has more than 20 million dependents.
With the approval of the Provisional Measure, the Federal Government expands the entry of other beneficiaries by increasing per capita income. The monthly per capita income of families must be equal to or less than R$218, previously it was required to be less than R$210.
The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, stated that the vote will take place within the deadline established by the Federal Government. This pronouncement is a result of other votes that are also delayed to be voted. He said the Senate will get the vote right on time and that they are willing to work late if necessary.
Provisional Measure 1164/2023, approved by the Chamber of Deputies, incorporated MP 1155/2023 into the text, which introduces the Gas Aid complement. According to this measure, an additional value equivalent to half of the average value of the gas cylinder will be granted. The Gas Aid benefit itself will have the same value.
The supplement will be paid every two months, totaling the amount corresponding to the average of a 13 kg cylinder for a beneficiary family.
