It was announced by the Federal Government that the National Identity Card (CIN) will no longer distinguish between the social name and the name on the civil registry. Instead, the name declared by the person at the time of issuance will be used in order to make the registration more inclusive and representative.
The CIN represented a change of unification of the CPF (Individual Taxpayer Registration), no longer valid the numbering of the old RG (General Registry). Despite the change, only 12 Brazilian states can issue the new document, namely: Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Pernambuco, Piauí, Paraná, Acre, Amazonas, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Alagoas, Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso Thick.

In addition to the unification of the CPF, the Federal Government announced that the document will not make a distinction between social name and civil registration, in addition to not containing information regarding gender, as presented in the RG.
This measure seeks to ensure respect for gender identity and promote the inclusion of trans and non-binary people belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestites, Transsexuals, Queers, Intersex, Asexual and Other), ensuring recognition and respect for the rights and identities of all citizens in their documentation official.
According to the Government, the appointment of the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship aims to guarantee the right to citizenship for all Brazilians.
In addition, one of the changes in CIN is the removal of the field referring to gender. The announcement was made now, but the decree to regulate the new issuance will only be published in June. After the publication of this regulation, all new documents will be issued following the new model, without including the gender field.
It is important to emphasize that the issuance of the National Identity Card is a service that is being implemented gradually in the Brazilian states, and it is recommended that interested parties check the specific procedures and requirements in their region.
