The current president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) brought the proposal of the Christmas allowance, or 13th salary, to Bolsa Família during his election campaign. After that, in 2019, the government paid this benefit for the first time to Brazilians who were enrolled in the old social assistance program.
However, with the exchange of projects from Bolsa Família to Brazil Aid, there was uncertainty about the Christmas allowance 2022. See what is discussed about this issue here!

Senator Alexandre Silveira, from the PSD of Minas Gerais, raised the debate involving the payment of the bonus this year. Through Bill 625/22, the senator proposes that the benefit be paid in 2022 on the grounds of softening the growth of hunger in Brazil. In addition, the senator emphasizes that the allowance was one of the flagships of President Jair Bolsonaro's election campaign.
However, the allowance was actually paid only in the first year of the president's term, in 2019. According to the government itself, the difficulties that came with the Covid-19 pandemic made payment impossible. Currently, Auxílio Brasil has managed to increase the amount that beneficiaries received from Bolsa Família. On the other hand, there are still no updates regarding the payment of the allowance in that year.
Law number 14,284, of December 2021, which establishes the payment of the Brazil Aid, does not provide for the payment of the allowance. In fact, the text of the law establishes only the payment of monthly installments, so that the absence of the 13th is predictable. In this case, that is precisely what Senator Alexandre Silveira seeks to reverse, with the proposal to insert this addendum into the text of the law.
If the bill receives approval from the Senate, it will go to the president. After all, Bolsonaro needs to sanction the law, but as he worked and supported the current structure of the Auxílio Brasil, it is difficult to know if there would be approval.
