Once again WhatsApp announces a new commercial mechanism within the application. This time, it's about launching the “purchase message”. The goal is to allow users to send an interactive message about a product. In addition to the product photo, an “action” button appears for the consumer to find out more details.

The new feature allows for two different types of messages. The first is for a specific product (single-product message). The second for a group containing up to 30 products (multi-product message). Through the tool it is possible to create a shopping cart within the messenger itself. A purchase request is submitted to purchase the item. Note that WhatsApp does not charge fees for this type of interaction.
However, the customer is unable to make direct payment via WhatsApp. At least not yet, as the function to pay with Pix will soon be used. What happens is that an external link is generated to redirect the user to other platforms. Thus, it is possible to pay through a banking app or through a specific service.
To be able to send the product message you need to be in a conversation. That way, you can't use the new feature through notifications. The shopping cart is unique for each registered user and device. Thus, the procedure is outside WhatsApp Web and is exclusive to the mobile app.
Once the cart is created, the products no longer expire. If any parameter or value of the item is changed, the user receives a notification about the update.
On the issue of payments, the Central Bank (BC) still needs to authorize the process via WhatsApp. In this case, the pending authorization concerns contracts between shopkeepers and consumers. Currently, the app can make payments between individuals. The maximum limit for each transaction is up to BRL 500.
