Animal-derived compound in marshmallow

The hidden ingredient that takes marshmallows out of the vegan category can also be found in ice cream, cottage cheese, and even wine. We're talking about gelatin, a key ingredient in marshmallows. In fact, that's just one of the three ingredients in this treat, the other two being sugar and corn syrup.

However, although gelatin is the basic ingredient in marshmallows, it contains a compound animal, so it is not ideal for vegans, as their goal is to remove all compounds animals. Gelatin is a thickening agent made from animal bones, cartilage and skin.

Alternative for vegans and vegetarians

Fortunately, the vegan community is leading the way, and there are a variety of excellent marshmallow substitutes. So, for those who don't want to give up eating their sweetie, there is an alternative.
