The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) made a new model of labels mandatory for foods. In this case, the novelties aim to make information more accessible to consumers, both by design of the nutritional table and by the warnings about nutrients. See here for the new rules for food labels.

The highlight of these changes was the new nutritional labeling rules. This is responsible for presenting the components present in each product, with their due proportions per portion. In this way, it is a very important part of the labeling, as some people have dietary restrictions.
With the change, the nutritional label will be on the front of the package – keeping in mind that this is an informative symbol. According to Anvisa, this is a strategy to make important information available in the as clear and simple as possible for the consumer, leaving no room for confusion or health.
In addition, the new format aims to highlight three very important pieces of information, which are the content of added sugars, saturated fat and also the sodium level. As we already mentioned, all this information will be on the front of the package.
Another detail that also draws a lot of attention is the design of the nutritional information that will be on the table. Based on these rules, every nutritional information table must contain black letters on a white background.
In this way, there will be a better contrast on the label, making the vision and interpretation of the content much more accessible. For example, information like this in colored letters and background can make it very difficult to read, especially for people who have some type of vision impairment.
In addition, now there is also the obligation to declare total and added sugars, in addition to the energy value and nutrients per 100 grams or 100 milliliters. All these changes have become mandatory since the last 9th, and non-compliance with them may force companies to discard the material.
